To the Southwest we go, where the Kansas Jayhawks are in possession of the top seed. Their maine competitors are Notre Dame and Louisville. I think Purdue will realize how much they miss Robbie Hummel in the next few weeks. I think Kansas will come out of this relatively weak region.

(1)KANSAS over (16)BOSTON U. The Morris brothers will just be getting warmed up by the time this one’s over.

(8)UNLV over (9)ILLINOIS. Odds are on Vegas.

(12)RICHMOND over (5)VANDERBILT. In a battle of the Foster Brothers, Justin Harper will lead the Spiders to victory over a ‘Dores squad that lacks size in the paint.

(4)LOUISVILLE over (13)MOREHEAD ST. Preston Knowles and Peyton Siva will come up big in the second half to put the game out of reach.

(11)USC/VCU over (6)GEORGETOWN. I am picking USC in this one on the assumption that Chris Wright is not at 100%. In his absence, the Hoyas averaged 53 points a game. However, if he comes back full strength, look for Georgetown to make some noise even past this game.

(3)PURDUE over (14) ST. PETER’S. Ja’Juan Johnson will not let St. Peter’s mount any sort of challenge against the Boilermakers.

(7)TEXAS A&M over (10)FLORIDA STATE. Apart from swag, the Seminoles do not bring much to the table.

(2)NOTRE DAME over (15)AKRON. Ben Hansborough follows in the footsteps of his brother as an annoying overachiever who gets it done.
