Houston native and rapper Mike Jones says he is now serious about changing his name unless he gets the respect he feels he deserves. “At first I was fine with people not really knowing who I was, but when entire audiences at my concerts kept asking ‘Who?’ over and over again, I knew something was wrong,” said Jones. “No matter how many times I told them I was Mike Jones, they still didn’t know who I was! Its just frustrating man.”
Among those who feel Jones is being disrespected because people don’t know his name is fellow Houston rapper Paul Wall. “I got off easy because, well, everybody knows me. Even after releasing a single titled ‘Mr. Jones’ people were still scratching their heads wondering ‘who is Mike Jones?’” explained Wall.
When asked what new names he would consider, Jones said he would rather stick to his style of generic and simple names. He recently narrowed his choices down to Keith Smith, Ralph Goldman, Dale Gonzales, Daniel Clark, and OG Cheddar Chopper.
